Corneal thickness daily fluctuations
Permalink

Hi just in case somebody needs it when interpreting his/hers pachymetries tests: corneal thickness is not constant throughout a day: it chnages: thicker in the morning, less thicker in the evening. Range - some say about 20 Ám, some say about 7% or 35 Ám (if take 500 Ám as average). Is there any specifical features of these fluctuations for a KC eye (there must be!) I do not know (have not found) Please look here http://bjo.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/abstract/90/1/24 and here http://bjo.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/abstract/80/12/1068 and here http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=6891565&dopt=Abstract or google on "diurnal fluctuations of corneal thickness". And do not forget that different methodes (ultrasound and Orbscan, for exemple) give significantly different numbers of that thickness( look at the topic in this fourm).for post lasik and KC eyes.
