Cataract treatment and bp
Permalink

Hey,

Is there any relationship between cataract treatment and blood pressure?  My mother who is 87-year-old is showing the symptoms of cataract. She has difficulties with her vision, especially at night and she is also complaining about blurred vision and double vision. So we are in a thought of getting cataract treatment with the help of an expert ophthalmologist, but recently, I happened to read that person with high blood pressure are not supposed to get cataract surgery. Is it so? Are there any alternative treatments for her problem? Any advice would be appreciable.

She might have high blood pressure...but is it controlled with medicine ? This is what should be occuring...and then that will be a high consideration to go forward with.

AFAIK there is no treatment for cataracts other than surgery. Hopefully you have enough trust in your opthamologist to allow them to manage any risks including blood pressure.
