I am a young kertaconus patient have been diagnosed sense I was 16. I am now 22, I have seen regular eye doctors, eye specialists, and corneal doctors all who have told me my kertaconus can no longer wear contacts and my glasses just can not do the job anymore. I have now become blind in my left eye and my right eye is getting just as bad. i have surgery for a full removal of my left cornea coming up and then after it heals one done on my right eye. i am feeling very depressed and trying to cope and its so hard. i just need advice from someone out there I've never talked or met with someone who has kertaconus so i feel so alone.
You don't need to feel alone, there are many of us here in one way or another where KC has affected us.
After you are confident with the medical advice given (this may be after a second opinion has been got), there is nothing wrong in trying to get your life back by what ever means on offer to you, and once other options has been ruled out.
