Hi,I am going to have cross-linking done , and am a bit confused. I am 45 and over the past year my KC has not got any worse-so firstly I really dont know the reason my doctor wants to do it, as I thought it was done to stop progression, and really thought I would be too old, especially if it looks as though it may have stopped. Also I thought it stopped getting worse as you got older.......He said that it should improve my eyesight Also I am really concerned about the UV light-I am really scared that it will cause cataracts or damage to my eyes. If someone could please answer I would really appreciate it smile.gif

Hi juanita,

Imho, if there is no progression, just don't do it. If I were you I would visit another kc specialist as well to get a second opinion. CXL may indeed improve your visions but the difference should typically be small. The only important benefit (if we forget the really important benefit of stopping progression) is that it might be easier for you to wear your contact lenses afterwards.

Best regards

if your kc is not progressing then I dont think you should do surgery.
