Dr Goren, thank you for the topographic scans, I wanted to ask if its possible to have limited topo PRK afterwards, as it does not seem much will be needed ! smile may be none at all in the months to come, at least in one eye once fully recovered ?

Thank you for any feedback you can give on this.

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

The main goal of the operation is to stop the course of the disease and prevent the need for a future transplant. It is still early in the recovery process and visual acuity is expected to further improve. Enhancements can be done later if needed. Depending on the corneal thickness limited tPRK could be an option.

Regards,

Peter

Dr. Goren,
Thanks very much for what appears to be a very Viable option in treting KC. As I have been a KCer for about 13 years, I, just like most are at wits end as to what has been presented to us in terms of our vision and further more, our natural way of life.
I have just had CXL done in NOv and the the Topo Guided PRK done on March 24, Im curious to know if the procedure that you ve just mentioned can be use to further treat and imporve my vision?
Secondly, what was the time period between pre and post op results?

Thanks very much for your time as I can Imagine that youre quite busy.

This surgery can be performed after CXL/tPRK if further correction is needed. It is recommended to wait at least six months after PRK. There is an immediate improvement in visual acuity with Dr. Artsybashev's procedure.

drgoren, do you have a site available online or a video clip in which to read and explore more into this procedure. To be honest, its appears to be a very excitingly viable procedure, however I've never heard of it before. Thanks again

I recently wrote an article for The Global Keratoconus Foundation about this procedure. Here is the link:

Hi good job!

I got some questions :) it seems really good, I visit the clinics homepage and the procedure seems much less painfull than PRK and CXL epi off.

Is there any collected data of many patient that could give the mean outcome for VA improvements?

Is there any data about what patients thought about reduction in ghosting halos and other problems that are hard to measure with a simple eye chart but still causes alot of problems?

I am curious about the program to follow postop, did he tell about that?

Are other surgeons picking up interest in this technique? Are the risks high? I mean if the incisions are placed a slight bit wrong the pressure and reshaping could be totally wrong?

I also read about the prices, quite expensive but if it is secure then it would be worth if for many.
