RE: Chances of a Transplant?

Here is the conclusion of this pub-med study...

"CONCLUSION: In a corneal referral practice, 64.2% of patients go on to PK in one or both eyes during long-term follow-up. The presence of scarring and high keratometry values at initial presentation may help to predict the likelihood of requiring a PK and may aid in patient counseling."

So is this saying that 64% of Keratoconus sufferers will proceed to graft (Sorry I'm crap at statistics) If so then how can the common  'the majority of Kcer's will never have to face PK' statement still be circulating the net? This is then deception and gives false expectation to many... I think a major overhaul of the base facts regarding KC is long overdue.

Its these decieving facts that cause Kcer's to shy away from other treatments... We must be better informed!!!
