Progression prevention tx for cornea < 300 mu?

My bottom-line question is: are there any more promising treatments for advanced and progressing keratoconus of this degree -- less than 300 microns which apparently is a typical cutoff for CxL in the U.S. which, at least in this area, seems more liberal -- that are more likely to halt the disease progression, or at least better stave off transplant? How well-studied is the option using drops to temporarily increase corneal thickness during the CxL procedure so that the UVA light does not risk damaging the endothelium? Incidentally, the preliminary study in which I might have participated compared Riboflavin CxL with to without UVA, so I could potentially be in the latter arm for my worse eye (OS). Any thoughts on this idea -- CxL without UVA?

Hi,

The only method which you mention that has been proven to work is the UVA and B2 with Epi off combination.

If you require your cornea to be thickened up before treatment and want the most experiance with that, then that experience is in Europe.

Best regards

There are some promising results with the use of the drops or now with the use of some special contact lenses during the UVA exposure.
These results were published in the fourth cxl international congress
It would be useful to find the proceedings.

Thank you! Responses thus far have been very helpful and much appreciated. Keep them coming by all means. As to the most recent, I did check the program for the congress in the link that you sent and saw that these topics were, indeed, covered. The journey continues...
