Great to know that the ORA was used to see what the pattern was with the strenghtening taking place and that its takes hold soon after the treatment has been carried out.

Thanks for posting that, its the first time anyone else has about the ORA so soon in the recovery.

I hope your wife the best, the worst of the healing pains pase is over and the road to recovery is only a matter of time now.

Best wishes

Thanks for the good wishes. Seems like things are getting back to normal. My wife was able to do some work on her computer, she also was able to run some errands with no problems driving. No pain yesterday and no headaches... Outside of the first 24 hours, the procedure appears to be very tolerable and the early discomfort from the epithelium removal can easily be managed with painkillers and rest.

Interesting about the ORA, I guess that is an advantage of the FDA trial. They conduct a lot of tests and pictures... preop, day of surgery, 1 day post op, 1 week post op, 1 month post op and 3 months post op... We will get a lot of good information from the trial and hopefully that will help many patients in the future.

Wanted to give you a quick update. My wife has pretty much returned to her normal routines. She says the haze is improved too. She is driving during the day, working on her computer etc. Her photsensitivity has diminished. All in all a relatively easy recovery from the cross linking procedure. It will be a couple more weeks for the next visit with our physician. Let's hope the cornea is strengthening...

One month follow up visit: Great news, the cross linking is working and we are seeing very promising early signs of improvement. I apologize for not having the details, scans etc however we did see improvements in the ORA, pentacam scans and other tests. My wife is back to normal routines and states that she has less eye strain (on her good eye) as well as less headaches. We haven't seen much day to day variance over the past 2 weeks and the photosensitivity is gone. The first month post procedure has gone exactly as expected and described by those on the board as well as the physicians that invented the procedure.
Next visit will be the 3 month visit and then we will crosslink her other "good" eye.

K,

Thanks to you and others for all the support and good wishes. I hope that others reading the updates will be able to make a more informed decision about their options. If it weren't for the posts on this board we would have likely had the intac procedure. That is still an option, however with Crosslinking, there may be other options such as retrying contacts again. It gives us time so other procedures that correct and fine tune the vision can be studied in more patients with longer follow up.

Best wishes to everyone on this board.

The one month follow up sounds very promising--congratulations!

I am considering joining the trial myself soon..

It would be really great if/when you're able to share the records showing improvement...it's great when there are positive subjective experiences aligned with good objective measurements...gives a lot more confidence than either alone...

best and thanks...
