Iím really disappointed with the office that Dr. Kanellopoulos worked with, my appointment was cancelled and I was told to call sometime next week. What makes this worse is they had me down for Lasik. When I made my appointment I told them PRK/C3R. Iím probably not going to reschedule here since it seems that this office isnít too reliable and it took a week in a half to make the orginal appointment, which I've waited anther 2 weeks to keep.
Iíve scheduled an appointment with Dr Peter Hersh in NJ on 3/11/08; his office is still conducting the FDA C3R trial. Iím worried that the c3r isnít going to be enough to correct the vision in my right eye; I know I need to have some refractive surgery done. Iíve seen people speak about PRK but I donít know of a good doctor in New York which has this procedure.

Hey tremedy,

The topography guided PRK combined with crosslinking treatment is an innovation of Dr Kanellopoulos. No where else in the world is being performed.Dr K has been awarded for this innovation to many congresses at the States and Europe.I know all this facts and that is why i performed both the treatments meaning crosslinking and the Topo PRK.

If i wouldnt have found Dr K here in Athens i would have gone to a center called emmetropia which is very famous for its eye care and have crosslinking or i would have gone to Germany for the treatment. But if i had chosen these options i would only had the crosslinking treatment.

I am saying all this stuff because you can find for example at States Dr Sylvia Norton who is performing PRK laser to kc patients but she doesnt perform the crosslinking. So,you will need to go to two different doctors for the whole. Also,i am not aware of the PRK laser that Dr Norton is performing. Is it topography guided? Is it something else?Because my friend you cant play with your eyes games. You need to have the best and with the best cutting edge technology.More to technology is the skilled and experienced doctor that has performed this kind of things many times.

If i were you i would definetely perform Crosslinking and if you prove to be a candidate also the topography guided PRK.The only place that both of them are doing is in here where i live. You can ask also Mark from Canada nickname Cloudd who has performed the same treatment.Ask him about what he thinks of Dr K and how is his vision.Frankly,i think this treatment is the best for kc as we speak.More people should know it and benefit from it as Mark and I did.

All the best,

Zeus and I have both had the PRK/Crosslinking preformed by DR. Kanellopoulus in Athens Greece. I fully agree with Zeus that I would have done anything to get my eyes fixed . Zeus and I even got pissed at each other prior to me going there for treatment. Zeus andI had an argument on here in in regards to me asking the cost of the sergury. The reason I say this is because Dr. K gives you BEYOND amazing experience and is completly competent in what he is doing. His price is fair and his results are beyond amazing results (curently 20/15-20/20 in my right eye and 20/20-20/30 in my left eye. The vision is still fluxuating and this is 3 months after surgery. You pay one price and everythingis covered for life. Unlike in the North American if you have keratoconus you are just asking everyone to rob you of your money and disappoint you with the results you receive basically pay money and watch you vision disappear with time. Definately go to Greece if you are in the ealry stages(I can speak my opinion of the early stages) you will not regret it.

Zeus and I are still on here telling everyone how great it is because we want others to know what is out there. 5 years from now is still unknown but what we see now is beyond amaing results! I see better than people who have never had surgery and don't wear glases or corrective lenses.

Well it really does not matter if he did practice there because you would still have to go to Greece to have the surgery done or at least somewherein the European Union. The reason being is no one is aloud to preform the procedure in North America because it is not FDA approved yet.

Your only option is to get up to date orbscans or Penticams doneand send them via email to Dr. K. He will thenbe able to give you a much better idea of what kind of results he you could expect to see if hepreform PRK/Crosslinking on you. If you can't get topo's done and still really want your eyes fixed I would justgostraight to greece and save yourself from wasting any more money on doctor's fees. Doctor K is the bestand that is why I chose to go so far for sergury. I want everyone who reads my story to know that is was 100% worth it to have the proceedure done. I used to get daily headaches from ghosting in my left eye. After the surgery I could immediatey see that the ghosting was very different and much less than it was before I had the surgery in my left eye. Now I have no headaches and I can see extremely well.

So it is really your choice what you want to do but I am extremely glad I went. I used to think about KC everyday all day and never get anything done and was depressed about it constantly but not anymore. I forget I have it most of the time.

I am in Dublin

I had a graft on my right eye and am satisfied with the results , however i am anxious to avoid having a graft on my left eye which has moderate kc

my kc is stable as far as i know...

i have being researching my options ...i wear contacts lens and don't have lens intolerance but still battling popping out..i am just starting to try slightly larger diamger rgps. i hope that works

i have looked at c3r and am considering saving up to have it but it may be too late for me...ie. that eye has progressed as much as its going to and even if i did get it i would still need rgps anyway for correction...i am not sure how my cornea is in terms of thickness except that i don't need a graft...i can't really afford to go to greece to try c3r and prk...and i could find out miniscule cataract or scarring may mean i am not eligible anyway

in Dublin the options seem to be contacts and nothing else for me..with the possible exception of c3r....i am wondering if i should save up for a consultation for laser ...to see if i could have c3r and prk done[there is a private clinic that does laser and c3r but not sure if they do both combined]

I guess i am feeling a little gloomy about kc at the minute....i really need the latest contact to work..

i go to my eye surgeon on 14th march....but thats just routine and will be just told to go back in a year to monitor cataracts....the eye surgoen i attended never mentioned c3r or intacs or any other treatment options for kc apart from contacts and graft..though i would consider them to be good
